Analyze a variety of situations that account for gender discrimination and inequalities in contemporary societies • Understand, from a critical perspective, the notion of gender and the different perspectives of gender studies In order to achieve these aims, we will: • Reflect on key concepts related to Gender • Look into gender stereotypes, gender based violence and other gender-based behaviors • Analyze gender stereotypes in cultural industry (movies, songs, advertisement, social media) • Study gender based policies, plans, etc. • Approach gender activism in different countries • Analize every day situations where gender plays a key role. • how gender stereotyping is utilized in advertising. |

Metody dydaktyczne: |
During the seminar we will discuss gender as a significant category of analysis. and debate about the role of gender in diferent spaces. Students will reflect on the the construction of gender identity and sexuality and the relationship of gender to past and present social and cultural institutions, gendered representations in the arts and literature, and feminist and related theoretical approaches to various disciplines. |

This course is designed to introduce students to questions in which gender is a significant category of analysis. Topics include the construction of gender identity and sexuality and the relationship of gender to past and present social and cultural institutions, gendered representations in the arts and literature, and feminist and related theoretical approaches to various disciplines. Discussion and directed reading on a topic of interest to the individual student. Active participation, group discusssion, critical text analysis, critical commentary (written and oral evaluation) |
